Installing Windows Without a CD?
I know this will sound weird for most people, but there is actually one person who asked me if this was possible. She wrote me through a tech support site and said that she was using Windows ME. I was shocked, Windows ME? I never thought anyone will still be using that today. She also told me that her computer was giving serious problems and she would like to reformat, but she didn't have a Windows CD and no money to buy one.
I replied to her and told her that it is not possible to install something if you don't actually have it. She still replied to that and said that the computer belongs to her in-laws who are very old people and they cannot afford a new computer or OS. After thinking about it for some time, I suggested that she use Linux if she was really on a tight budget and gave her the necessary information. I downloaded installation guides which I sent to her along with alot of information on usage etc.
Two days later I realised that I only wasted my time as she wrote and told me thanks for all the help but she wont need it as she will be buying a brand new computer with Windows XP. I almost slammed the keyboard after reading this. First she had no money to buy anything, she made me do all that research and then simply said that she was getting a new computer. At least she was upgrading from Windows ME to XP, which is a good change (and I told her that) The funny part was that I really didn't help her much but she still wrote me four thank you letters.
